One killed, 40 injured in Kishoreganj clash

KISHOREGANJ, Nov 23 (UNB): A man was killed and at least 40 people were injured in a clash between two groups over naming of a bazar at Shimulhati in Tarail Upazila Monday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Moti Mia (53), son of Abdul Aziz of the same village.
Police and villagers said there had been a long standing dispute between the people of Shimulhati village and Shamukjani village of Rauti union over naming of a bazar at Shimulhati.
The clash ensued as some people of Shimulhati village beat up Sawapan Mia of Shamukjani village following the dispute Monday.
At one stage, both groups equipped with lethal weapons attacked each other that left Moti Mia dead on the spot and 40 people injured from both sides in the afternoon.
One of the injured was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital and others were rushed to different hospitals.
