One killed, 5 hurt in Pabna villagers\\\' clash

PABNA, Jun 22: At least one person was killed and five others injured as the two rival groups clashed over supremacy in the area at Aoutapara village in Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Siddik Biswas, 45, son of late Sanu Biswas of the Aoutapra village.
Officer-in-charge of Ishwardi police station Biman Kumar Das said there has been a longstanding enmity between Mahamud Kasai and Alauddin Biswas groups over establishing supremacy in the village. The supporters of the both groups locked in the clash with firearms, bamboo sticks, iron rods and other sharp weapons at around 9:30 pm Saturday.
At one stage, people of Mahamud Kasai group opened fire on supporters of Alauddin Biswas, leaving Siddik, brother of Alauddin Biswas, dead on the spot and five others injured.
On information, Ishwardi thana police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control. Three of the injured Abdus Sattar Biswas, Shahidul Islam and Bahadur Biswas were admitted to Pabna Medical College Hospital. Police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for post-mortem examination on Sunday. No case was filed about the incident till at about 4.00pm, OC said.
