One killed, 7 injured in AL-BNP clash

NATORE, July 28 (UNB): Siddiq, a tea stall owner and local BNP activist, who sustained critical injuries during a clash between Awami League and BNP at Attika village under Lalpur Upazila Monday, died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) Tuesday.
Police said Siddiq and AL activist Fazlu locked into an altercation over a trifling matter Monday evening.
As a sequel, local AL activists, led by former UP chairman Azizul Islam Mokkel, swooped on the BNP activists with lethal weapons and bamboo sticks triggering a fierce clash.
Chase and a counter chase took place between the two groups, leaving at least seven injured from both sides.
Critically injured Siddiq was rushed to RMCH where he succumbed to his injuries. The other injured were admitted to Upazila Health Complex.
Police arrested one Azizul Islam Fuki in this connection.
