Saturday, 12 July 2014

An alleged mugger was killed in a gunfight with members of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police in the city's Khilgaon area early Friday, reports UNB.
Two DB men were injured in the incident.
One pistol loaded with three bullets was also recovered from the spot.
Police sources said the DB had information that an organised gang of criminals committed mugging in Khilgaon Bishwa Road area regularly at midnight.
Passengers, who usually get down from night coaches, especially of 'Shohagh Paribahan', fall prey to them.
Like other days, a special DB team was paroling the area on Thursday night.
They challenged several young men moving suspiciously near Khilgaon Khidma Hospital at about 2:45 am.
Sensing danger, the gangsters reportedly fired gunshots targeting the detectives.
The DB personnel also reiterated with firing triggering a brief gunfight that left one of the suspected muggers, aged about 40, injured.
The injured was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Contacted, Deputy Commissioner (DB-PR) of DMP Masudur Rahman told UNB that one pistol along with three bullets was recovered from the scene after the shootout.
Two DB constables--Alim and Jony Barua --were injured in the incident. They were given first aid, added the DC.
