One killed in gunfight with joint forces

BAGERHAT, Apr 6: A leader of a forest robber gang was killed and another injured in a 'gunfight' with the joint forces in Swarankhola Bazaar area under Swarankhola upazila near the Sundarbans on Sunday night. On a tip-off, a team of joint force conducted a drive when the robber gang was staying at an abandoned garden in Panirghat area of the upazila, said Officer-in-Charge of Swarankhola Thana M Rejaul Karim. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, Billal Farazi's cohorts opened fire on them. The law enforcers also returned the fire leading to the gunfight, leaving Billal and another member Farhad injured. Billal succumbed to his injuries later.     — BSS
