One-minute silence prog observed
FE REPORT | Monday, 16 October 2023
A one-minute silence programme was observed on Sunday in different places of the city as part of the government's campaign against noise pollution.
The programme with the slogan titled 'Let us stop sound pollution and follow a minute of silence' was observed under the initiatives taken by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
However, many vehicles did not stop honking their horns at the traffic signals near Bangladesh Secretariat gates during the programme.
"On Sunday, we observed only a one-minute sound pollution-free programme in the city. We hope we will do the same across the country. One day we will be able to observe this programme round the clock after gradually increasing the time to an hour, five hours, ten hours and so on," said Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin.
