DNCC launches drive today

The country reported a new death from dengue fever in the last 24 hours until Saturday morning with 294 more dengue patients hospitalised during the period.
With the latest casualty, total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease reached 32 and the number of hospitalised cases rose to 8,390 this year, according to official statistics.
In its regular health bulletin, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said, of the new patients, 244 were hospitalised in Dhaka city and the remaining 50 were admitted to healthcare facilities outside the capital.
Amid the rising number of cases, currently 1,023 people are admitted to hospitals including 849 in 50 public and private hospitals in Dhaka.
On the other hand, a total of 7,335 patients -5,970 in Dhaka city and 1,365 in other regions-- have been released from hospitals after treatment this year.
The DGHS data also revealed that the first 10 days of September logged 11 deaths and 2,209 cases of hospitalisation.
In the month of August 3,521 cases of infection and 11 deaths were reported while July saw nine deaths and 1,571new cases.
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Saturday announced a campaign to help control the dengue situation. The campaign will start today (Sunday).
Some 10 teams of the DNCC will conduct raids in 10 regions under its jurisdiction. They will take punitive actions against people responsible for not taking due measures to clean the breeding ground of Aedes larvae in buildings and other structures.
DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam made the announcement at a programme held in Dakkhinkhan area to create mass awareness about the dengue outbreak this year.
Moddho Azampur area of Dakkhinkhan has been identified as a dengue-prone area by the authorities concerned.
During a raid in the area, a DNCC mobile court found Aedes larvae in one of the under-construction buildings there and realised a fine of Tk 0.1 million.
