One sentenced to life term for murder

NARAYANGANJ, Jan 4 (UNB): A special court here Thursday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for murdering his wife.
The court also fined the convict Shahid Mia of Jhalkanda village under Araihajar Upazila Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer one-year rigorous imprisonment more.
According to the prosecution, Shahid following a family feud beat his wife Sanowara Begum to death on October 5, 2003 and dumped the body beside a nearby road. Later, police recovered the body.
Victim's elder brother Akbar Ali filed a murder case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with the local police station.
After examining the witnesses and records Tribunal Judge Jakir Hossain pronounced the verdict in the crowded courtroom.
