A regional one-stop service centre (OSSC) was inagurated at the Bangladesh Special Economic Zone (BSEZ) in Araihazar, Narayanganj on Tuesday aimed at ensuring a seamless solution for potential investors.
The regional OSSC would act as a central hub for various administrative processes, including licensing, permits, and customs clearance, says to a press release.
The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) set up the OSSC with the technical cooperation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under the 'Special Economic Zone Management and Investment Promotion Capacity Building Project.'
BEZA Executive Chairman Shaikh Yusuf Harun attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest while Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Kiminori Iwama was present as a guest of honour. Managing Director at Bangladesh SEZ Limited Taro Kawachi was also present.
The BSEZ is the country's pioneering special economic zone or industrial park that meets international standards. JICA supports the government's infrastructure advancement financing with its Official Development Assistance (ODA) loans.
"The regional OSSC at BSEZ is a testament to the continued collaboration between Japan and Bangladesh. This centre will play a pivotal role in facilitating business operations within the BSEZ and bolstering the country's overall investment environment by acting as a role model for other economic zones in Bangladesh," Ichiguchi Tomohide, chief representative at JICA Bangladesh, said on this occasion.
