One to die for murder in Ctg

A court in Chittagong on Wednesday sentenced a man to death for killing his pregnant wife for dowry at West Boroghona village in Banshkhali upazila in 2010. The convict, Fazal Karim, 38, was also fined Tk 1 lakh. According to prosecution, Fazal Karim used to torture his wife Bilkis Akther for dowry since their marriage in 2009. On June 21, 2010, Fazal beat his pregnant wife Bilkis to death at one stage of altercation over dowry. Later, a case was filed by the victim’s mother in this connection. Judge of Chittagong women and children repression prevention tribunal-1 Rezaul Karim handed down the verdict after examining the records and witnesses, according to UNB.
