Only educated persons can help build non-communal society: Deputy Speaker

Jatiya Sangsad Deputy Speaker M Fazle Rabbi Mian said Sunday only the educated persons can help build a non-communal, militancy-free, liberal and progressive society, reports BSS.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a national seminar titled 'Only Virtuous Education Can Help Building Corruption-Free Society' at the National Press Club in the city.
Bangladesh Chhatrak-alyan Trust organised the seminar marking its 12th founding anniversary, said an official release.
The deputy speaker said future generation should be built, through giving them proper awareness and education, to raise their voices against corruption.
Teachers of educational institutions would have to play the pioneering role in this regard, he said.
Besides, people from all strata have to come forward to develop the future generation as honest and worthy citizens to build a corruption-free society, he added.
Fazle Rabbi said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given the highest priority to expansion of education.
Presided over by Bangladesh Chhatrakalyan Trust Director Lt. Col. (Retd) Abu Osman Chowdhury, the seminar was also addressed by educationists DrĀ Anisuzzaman, Dr Shafique Ahmed Siddique, Dr Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, Professor Abu Sayeed, Dr Pran Gopal Datta and Vice Chancellor of different universities.
In the function, a total of 29 persons were awarded citations for their contributions to the field of education.
