Only political louts deny role of Zia in independence: BNP

BNP senior leader Nazrul Islam Khan on Thursday said those who deny the role of their party founder Ziaur Rahman in the country’s Liberation War are nothing but political louts. “Ziaur Rahman had proclaimed the country’s independence in 1971 as the chief of the provisional government. Then the Mujibnagar government had been formed. Those who don’t recognise Ziaur Rahman’s contributions are political brutes,” he told a discussion. Tejgaon thana unit Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal arranged the discussion in the city’s Karwanbazar area, marking the 33rd death anniversary of Ziaur Rahman, according to a news agency.
