Open Badminton Tournament begins today

Advocate Abdur Rob Smriti Summer Open (Ranking) Badminton Tournament, organised by Bangladesh Badminton Federation, begins today (Tuesday) at Mirpur Shaheed Smriti Indoor Stadium in the city, reports UNB.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Ahad Ali Sarkar will formally inaugurate the four-day meet as the chief guest while Touhid Jong Murad MP will be present as the special guest.
Some 133 ranking players - 120 men and 13 women 13 - from Divisional Sports Associations, District Sports Associations and other organisations will be taking part in the four events of the meet.
The four events are men's singles and doubles, and women's singles and doubles.
Private Satellite Channel ATN Bangla is the media partner of the meet.
Of the total tournament budget of Tk 220,000, the sponsors will provide Tk 200,000. Tournament committee secretary Hafizur Rahman Milon disclosed the details at a press conference at the NSC conference Monday.
Badminton Federation General Secretary M Abdur Rob, Tournament Committee President Seyeda Mariam Tareq were present.
