Open market restriction and unholy competition

Sunday, 20 March 2011

I read a good piece of write-up published in the Financial Express on March 16 on 'Corporate Dalals'. If we look at the broader issue in relation to what was pointed out there, we need to look at the existing practice of restricting open market and promote anti-competitive behaviour. There are many examples how big organisations restrict the market by forcing their clients to buy the stocks only from a handful of selected companies. So the other companies, which are not selected can't sell their products though their quality is much better. So in the interest of fair trading, I am in favour of an open market restriction law that can ensure a fair level playing field in the market for healthy competition. Is there any such thing in Bangladesh? Kazal JU, Dhaka
