Opposition MP blames education ministry for all question leaks

Monday, 1 December 2014

An opposition Jatiya Party MP has laid the blame for the question paper leaks during all public examinations on the education ministry, reports bdnews24.com.
Sunamganj-4 MP Pir Fazlur Rahman during an unscheduled discussion in Parliament on Sunday demanded immediate action against those involved in leaking questions.
By raising the demand, he has joined a long line of people who are already bashing the government and the education ministry for their failure to prevent reported leak of question papers of ongoing Primary School Certificate (PSC) and Ebtedayee examinations.
Rahman said, "Any of the people who prepare the question papers or print them or are responsible for their safekeeping are involved in leaking the questions."
"The education sector cannot be allowed to be destroyed because of some thieves. Actions must be taken against those responsible for the leaks," he said.
Right before the PSC exams began, allegations surfaced that question papers of several tests were leaked and available on the internet.
Earlier, leaked questions of Junior School Certificate exams being available on social media sites like Facebook were reported too.
This year's SSC and HSC exams were also marred by allegations of question paper leaks. As a consequence, the English second paper test of the HSC in Dhaka board had to be cancelled and taken again.
MP Fazlur Rahman also presented in Parliament an article written by the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology teacher Prof Muhammad Zafar Iqbal on the issue.
Rahman criticised Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid's threat that the government was planning to shut out mobile phone networks and social media sites during public exams to prevent question leaks in future.
He said, "Those who use mobile phones or Facebook are not leaking the questions
"Some education ministry officials are involved in preparing the questions. Then some others print them and then the questions are kept under the supervision of others."
The MP suspected that the question papers were being leaked by the people from any of these three groups.
He said the perpetrators must be identified immediately and put on trial.
