Oracle led in 2007 banking platform sales

Oracle has been recognised as a Global Power Seller in Forrester Research's June 2008 independent report, "Global Banking Platform Deals 2007: Vendors."

Forrester Research defined Global Power Sellers as "leaders with more than 35 new banking platform clients in at least six regions of the world in 2007."

Only Oracle and one other vendor were designated as Global Power Sellers out of the 15 companies surveyed for the report.

According to the report, Oracle won a total of 71 deals with new clients, more than any other vendor. Deals were won across Oracle Financial Services Global Business Unit product lines including Oracle's Siebel, Oracle's FLEXCUBE and the Oracle Financial Services Applications.

The Forrester Research report cited Oracle as a top-tier financial services vendor based on report evaluation criteria that includes new 2007 sales to financial services customers, global sales success, global reach and banking platform functionality.

In the report, Forrester Vice President, Principal Analyst Jost Hoppermann states that "Oracle won new banking platform clients in close to 40 countries, with the US and India showing the largest numbers of new named deals. Functionality of the counted deals included retail and corporate banking, Internet banking, teller solutions, risk management and Basel II, microfinance, and lease management as well as Islamic banking."
