Oral exams of 27th BCS to begin July 29

The oral examinations of 27th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) will begin on July 29, the Public Service Commission (PSC) said, reports bdnews24.com.
"All necessary steps will be taken this time to avoid any repetition of the mismanagement in the past," PSC chairman Saadat Hussain told the news agency over telephone Monday.
Saadat Hussain said the PSC was also considering decisions such as keeping the board members' cell phones off during the interviews.
PSC sources said the oral exams will take about four months.
Earlier on May 30, the cabinet approved the cancellation of the viva results for a retake of the oral exams.
The 27th BCS examination notice was advertised on June 28, 2005 inviting applications for 1,776 civil service jobs.
In all, 136,105 applied and 118,339 appeared in the preliminary screening.
The preliminary test results, published on December 4, 2005, showed that 26,500 qualified for the written exams,
The written tests began on March 18, 2006.
The written tests results were out on August 17, 2006, qualifying 16,418 candidates who would subsequently take the oral exams.
Of them, 3,567 succeeded in the oral exams, and were appointed to various cadre jobs.
The health exam of the finalists was supposed to be held in February 2007, but was postponed after an establishment ministry decision.
The postponed health exam started at last on April 7, but was stalled without any date for a restart.
