Orascom Telecom realigns itself

Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH) has restructured its organisation recently in a move to focus more effectively on growth and drive greater agility in the execution of key strategic transformational goals.
The board of directors of Orascom Telecom Holding has promoted Khaled Bichara as the group's chief executive officer who will report to Naguib Sawiris, executive chairman of the company, according to a company statement.
Mr Sawiris will continue to be directly involved by having overall responsibility in the business with Orascom Telecom Algeria.
He will also be leading and directing the Group's growth and expansion strategy.
Mr Bichara was appointed Chief Operating Officer of OTH in April 2009.
Orascom Telecom is a leading international telecommunications company operating GSM networks in high growth markets in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, having a total population under licence of approximately 510 million with an average mobile telephony penetration of approximately 45 per cent as of June 30, 2009.
