Order on Mirza Alamgir\\\'s bail July 13
Thursday, 9 July 2015
The Supreme Court on Thursday again fixed July 13 for passing order on the government's petition against a High Court order granting bail to BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in three violence cases. A four-member bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, fixed the date. Earlier on July 5, the bench had fixed July 8 for giving the order but the hearing in the cases had to be held today (July 9) as the health reports of Fakhrul did not reach in time. On January 6, plainclothes police picked up Fakhrul as he came out of the Jatiya Press Club after nearly 25 hours of stay there following BNP's announcement to observe January-5 as 'Democracy Killing Day', protesting the 10th parliamentary polls held on the day. The BNP leader is now facing 79 cases, according to a news agency.
