Order to open spl units at all Sadar hospitals

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim asked on Wednesday the authorities concerned to open special units in all district Sadar hospitals as precautionary measures following the outbreak of the swine flu in neighbouring India.
The health minister's directive came at a meeting held at the secretariat to discuss the course of actions needed to combat the possible effects of the deadly disease 'swine flu'.
He also asked the doctors to take necessary preparations for providing medicines and other treatment facilities if anyone is affected with the disease.
The minister also ordered the airport authorities to use 'seven thermal scanners' to check fever of all incoming passengers, especially from that of India.
He also mentioned that the steps that Bangladesh adopted against ebola virus were successful and the latest move for swine flu would also be fruitful.
State Minister for Health Zahid Malek, Health Secretary Syed Manjurul Islam and Director General of Health Services (DGHS) Professor Dr Deen Muhammad Nurul Haque were present, among others, in the meeting.
The government's latest move came against the backdrop of the outbreak of the swine flu (H1N1) in neighbouring India alarmingly, according to several media reports.
The Times of India reported that the virus had killed 624 people in India during the last one and a half months.
This year, swine flu deaths have more than doubled compared to the previous year taking the toll to 624. Citing official data, the Indian newspaper said a total of 9,311 people got infected so far.
In February alone over 300 people died of the disease across India, it reported.
