Ordinance okayed for managing committees of non-govt edn bodies

Draft of an ordinance providing for new rules for managing the non-government educational institutions was today approved at a meeting of the Advisory Council presided by Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed, reports UNB.
The council also approved the trade agreement with Bhutan, permission to Shadharan Bima Corporation for purchase of shares of Bangkok based Asian Reinsurance Corporation, the NOC-Bangladesh (Bangladesh National Olympic Committee) ordinance, the Charter Secretaries Ordinance, simplification of pension rules for civil government employees and amendments to the Town Improvement Act, 1953 with the objectives of infusing dynamism in the management of Rajdhani Unnyan Kartipakkha (RAJUK).
Under the proposed ordinance on educational institutions, the Deputy Commissioner or his nominated first class official will be president of two-thirds of non-government schools, colleges and madrasahs of each district.
There will be no election for the membership of the managing committee. Representatives of teachers, guardians, founder of the institution and donors would be members. The head of the institution will be member-secretary of the committee.
The managing committees are to be formed within 90 days of gazette notification of the ordinance.
