Organise hybrid meetings
BB tells banks
FE REPORT | Thursday, 27 April 2023
Commercial banks have been asked to organise hybrid meetings - involving both in-person and remote attendees.
The Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday as part of austerity measures as well as for reducing electricity consumption.
The latest BB directive is applicable to any meeting, according to the instructions - issued by its Banking Regulation and Policy Department (BRPD).
"Instead of 100 per cent physical presence, the banks should organise hybrid meetings, which may help save power,"
noted the BB circular, signed by BRPD director Akber Ali Farazi.
Earlier, the BB instructed the banks not to buy new cars until June 2023 as part of the austerity measures. The banks' spending for hospitality, travel, furniture and stationery was also cut by 50 per cent due to the measures.
