Orientation ceremony at DU

Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor SMA Faiz urged students to gather proficiency in English language alongside their mother tongue, as there was no alternative to learning English to keep pace with the competition of globalisation.
Terming the DU teachers as senior scholars and students as junior scholars, Faiz said acquiring knowledge was not enough for students rather they have to create knowledge also.
He made the observations as the chief guest at an orientation ceremony of the 14th batch of Computer Science and Engineering Department at the university's TSC auditorium Wednesday.
DU Pro-VC AFM Yusuf Haider and Science Faculty Dean Tajmery SA Islam, among others, spoke at the function with department chairman Md Haider Ali in the chair.
