Outlaw party leader killed in Meherpur

MEHERPUR, May 29 (UNB): An outlawed party leader was slaughtered by rivals in Gangni Upazila.
Police recovered the throat-slit body of Ashraful Islam (35), the regional commander of Purbo Banglar Communist Party (Lal Pataka) and son of Mujibur Rahman of Shimultala village, from a field at Gopalnagar village Thursday.
Locals spotted the body of Ashraf in an abandoned land at Bholardar field in the morning and informed police.
Later, the law enforcers recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.
Riazul Islam, officer in-charge (OC) of Gangni thana, confirmed the incident, saying internal dispute might have been the reason behind the murder.
