PABNA, May 7 (UNB): A regional leader of outlawed Purba Banglar Communist Party (ML-Lal Potaka) was killed in a bomb attack by his rival faction at Vinnagram in Ataikula Upazila Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Mithu Hossain (35), son of Palon of Alokdia village in Sathia Upazila.
Police said there was a longstanding enmity between the Janajuddha and Lal Potaka factions of the party over establishing supremacy in the area.
As a sequel to their enmity, the cadres of Janajuddha hurled a bomb at Mithu at about 9:00pm, leaving him dead on the spot. A case was filed.
Police said extremist Mithu was wanted in a number of murder, extortion and other criminal cases.
