Over 0.15m postal ballots reach returning officers

A total of 1,55,452 (over 0.15 million) postal ballots have already reached the returning officers across the country ahead of the 13th parliamentary election, scheduled for February 12. Of them, 1,24,746 ballots have been received from expatriate voters staying abroad and 30,706 others come from voters inside Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) shared the updates with the journalists on Friday morning.
According to the EC, the number of ballots deposited with post offices or mailboxes stood at 6,62,703 until Friday morning.
Of the total, 4,49,006 ballots have been sent by expatriate Bangladeshis and the remaining 2,13,697 by domestic voters.
Non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) staying aboard, officials and members of law enforcing agencies who will be engaged in conducting the polls and prisoners were allowed to register and use the postal voting system.
A total of 1,533,684 voters got registered with the IT-supported postal voting system, according to the EC.
Of them, 772,546 expatriate voters were enrolled through the Overseas Citizen Voting (OCV) process while 761,138 domestic voters registered under the In-Country Postal Voting (ICPV) mechanism.
The postal ballots must reach the respective returning officers before 4.30 pm on February 12 (the voting day).
