Over 20,000 marooned in N'ganj

NARAYANGANJ, July 28 (BSS) : Over 20 thousand people in this district town were marooned as the roads and pavements went under knee-deep water due to incessant rainfall since Monday night.
The low lying areas of DND Road, Baburail, Nandi Para, Deobhog, Bhaborail, Kashipur, Rishi Para, Nalua Para and Amhatia were submerged by the rainwater. The downpour also caused severe waterlogging in the town.
People of the DND area were to wade through knee deep water to reach their destinations and rickshaw was the only means of communication there.
The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) recorded 122mm rainfall in the town during the period.
