Over 50 houses, business establishments gutted in Khagrachhari

KHAGRACHHARI, July 27 (UNB): Over 50 dwelling houses and business establishments were burnt to ashes in a devastating fire in Old Zeep Station area in the town Thursday.
Local people said the fire originated from a kitchen of a house and soon engulfed the adjacent houses and shops at 1:15 pm.
On information, fire fighting units and joint forces rushed in and brought the fire under control after two hours of frantic efforts with the help of local people.
The affected house owners and businessmen claimed that valuables worth over Tk 10 million (1.0 crore) were gutted in the fire.
