Over 70pc people now enjoy electricity facility

More than 70 per cent people of the country are now getting electricity facility and in the near future it will be 100 per cent.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, MP, said this while addressing General Managers' Conference of Palli Bidut Samity as the chief guest in the city recently, said a press release.
The present government has doubled its budget in the sector, the state minister told the conference.
People of the country are getting uninterrupted electric facility, as a result their standard of living is improving day by day, he added.
This success goes to the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB), he pointed out.
The state minister said if electricity reaches all regions of the country, Bangladesh will turn into a developed country by 2030 and it will be possible to achieve the target if work is done with sincerity and honesty.  
He urged all to work sincerely so that the electricity can be reached to people at an economical rate.
He also directed the general managers to lessen expenses and bring down system losses.
The government will give financial and administrative assistance to the BREB. But, you all will have to perform responsibly and sincerely, the state minister said.
He also asked the general managers to help authorities concerned to stop corruption of contractors.
He further advised all to behave modestly with the subscribers.
The state minister said audit will be conducted at the BREB field level and directed all to observe line construction along the road avoiding agriculture land and unplanned line.
Addressing the conference as the special guest, Director General Engr Mohammad Hossain of Power Cell urged all general managers to work sincerely to turn the country into a developed country by 2041.
In his welcome address, Chairman Brigadier General Moinuddin said people of the enclave will be brought under electric facilities through quick line construction.
Among others, Chairman of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission AR Khan, Chairman of the Bangladesh Power Development Board KM Hasan and Managing Director of the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Masum Al Baruni were present at the function as the special guests.
Member (administration) of the BREB Md Yakub Ali Patwary gave vote of thanks.
General managers of 77 Palli Bidut Somities and senior officers of the BREB attended the conference.
