Over Tk 400 million collected from Ctg income tax fair

CHITTAGONG, Oct 01: Regional tax officials have collected over Tk 400 million from the 5-day income tax fair that concluded on Thursday. A total of 23,502 tax payers, of whom 2107 are new, submitted returns in the last five days with Company Circle-3 becoming the single largest earner of Tk 180 million, organisers said. The fair at MA Aziz Stadium drew large crowd including old and new income tax payers who submitted returns in long queues in the booths of different company circles under three tax regions. Commissioner of tax region-1 Ramendra Chandra Basak said, "How much amount of tax was collected in the fair is not the question. People in great numbers have visited the fair and were encouraged to pay tax. From that point, we are hundred per cent successful."
