Overhead illegal Internet, TV cables must go by 7 days in city

All overhead illegal Internet and TV cables that still remained hanging from the electric poles must be removed within next 7 (seven) days in the Dhaka city, else punitive action, including filing of cases, will be taken against the offenders. This decision was taken at a meeting at the Power Ministry on Thursday with State Minster for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid in the chair. Representatives of different ministries including Power, Commerce, Information and Telecommunications were present at the meeting. The meeting was also attended by top executives of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB), Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd (DPDC), Dhaka Electric Supply Company Ltd (DESCO), Internet service providers (ISPs), TV Cable Operators’ organisation COAB, Fiber@Home, Summit Communications, and BTCL.
