Overloaded vessel detained at Chittagong port

CHITTAGONG, Oct 06: One lighter vessel loaded with 1250 tonnes of cement clinker was detained along with its 13 sailors on charge of its movement on the marine route shouldering risk. The master of the vessel and the local agent were fined Taka 0.1 million for violating marine code, concerned sources said.
Chittagong port mobile court led by the Magistrate Mohammad Munir Chowdhury conducted the drive yesterday.
MV Blue View, while trying to leave Chittagong port having been loaded with an excessive quantity cement clinker was detained at outer anchorage. About 125 tonnes of cement clinker were loaded from the MV Brave Royal staying at the outer anchorage into the lighter vessel MV Blue View. As the vessel was overloaded, it was likely to be drowned in the sea. Papers of the detained vessel have been seized.
