Oxfam chief executive due tomorrow

Worldwide development agency Oxfam’s Chief Executive Mark Goldring will arrive in Dhaka tomorrow (Saturday) on a 3-day visit to Bangladesh. During the visit, Goldring is expected to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to express his sincere thanks on behalf of Oxfam for awarding the ‘Friends of Liberation War’ for its role in 1971. He will also meet the representatives of donor organisations and will visit the activities of Oxfam’s ongoing programmes in Rangpur, Abdul Quayyum, media and communication coordinator at Oxfam in Bangladesh. As chief executive, Goldring brings the issues faced by the world’s poorest people to a global stage, meeting high level government and business leaders to influence them to act against the causes of poverty, according to UNB.
