‘Oxfam Run’ to advocate for BD domestic workers' rights

Saturday, 22 February 2025

To promote the rights of four million domestic workers in Bangladesh, Oxfam in Bangladesh is set to organise 'Oxfam Run' today (Saturday) at Dhaka's Hatirjheel reports UNB.
The event, themed 'Advocacy Beyond Walls,' will bring together over 2,000 participants advocating for equality and legal recognition of domestic workers.
Supported by Global Affairs Canada, the run aims to push for the recognition of domestic workers as 'labour' under Bangladesh's labour law. Oxfam is calling for the implementation of the 2015 Policy on Domestic Workers' Protection and Welfare, ratification of ILO Convention 189, and stronger legal safeguards for domestic workers.
"Oxfam Run is more than a symbolic event; it's a call for justice," said Mahmuda Sultana, acting Country Director of Oxfam in Bangladesh.
