Padma Bridge gets concrete shape for PM: Mosharraf

JAMALPUR, Feb 15 (BSS): Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Khandker Mosharraf Hossain today said Padma Bridge has been visible only for the initiatives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
"Construction of different mega projects including Padma Bridge was possible because of the prime minister's efforts," the minister said while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion arranged in observance of the 150th founding anniversary of Jamalpur municipality at Government Ashek Mahmud College playground in the district town.
He said the per capita income rose to $1,610 in the last nine years under the dynamic leadership of the premier.
The minister said, "Bangladesh is a populated country, but we are able to feed 16 core people because of attaining food self-sufficiency due to implementation of various ventures in agriculture sector."
He also called upon people to strengthen the hands of Sheikh Hasina with moral support to continue a good number of development works across the country.
Mayor of Jamalpur municipality Mirza Sakhawatul Alam Moni presided over the meeting.
State Minister for Textile and Jute Mirza Azam, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Land Rezaul Karim Hira, Faridul Haque Khan Dulal, MP, Chief Co-coordinator of SDG of Prime Minister's Office Md Abul Kalam Azad, Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Kabir, Chairman of District Council Faruk Ahmed Chowdhury, Superintendent of Police Md Delwar Hossain, President of District Awami League Advocate Mohammad Baki Billa, President of Jamalpur town Awami League Masum Reza Rahim and Secretary of Jamalpur town Awami League Bijan Kumar Chanda, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The meeting was followed by a cultural show.
