Padma bridge to revamp national economy

Friday, 22 April 2022

If everything goes right, the Padma Multipurpose Bridge will be opened to traffic in June this year since most of its construction works are already complete. The biggest bridge of Bangladesh will connect two districts -- Munshiganj and Shariatpur. People of 21 south-western districts, however, will benefit on account of this bridge directly and indirectly. When opened, it will play a significant role in the country's economic progress. Many factories and industries are going to be established. It is expected that the country's GDP (gross domestic product) will increase by more than one per cent, thanks to the bridge.
Alongside economic development, the bridge will also improve south-western districts' education, transportation, healthcare facilities, and other services. A number of opportunities will also come to the rural areas and change the rural economy. Bangladesh has been battling the devastating impacts of the Covid -19 pandemic for more than two years. With the opening of the Padma bridge the country's economy hopefully will get a shot in the arm.
