Painting exhibition begins in Islamabad

A month-long painting exhibition of Bangladeshi artists 'Colours of Bangladesh' began in Pakistan capital Islamabad Friday, reports BSS.
Jointly organised by Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad and Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) of the National Art Gallery, the exhibition was inaugurated by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan Sherry Rehman.
Sherry Rehman said the relations between the two peoples would be further cemented with the holding of such exhibitions. She expressed the hope that art exhibition of Pakistani artists would be organised in Bangladesh in near future.
High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Pakistan Yasmeen Murshed and Director General of PNCA Naeem Tahir were present on the occasion.
Four renowned Bangladeshi artists, Rafiqun Nabi, Nasreen Begum, Fareha Zeba and Shahnaz Plamiondon Kuhu were also present at the function.
About 100 paintings of 19 Bangladeshi artists are being displayed in the exhibition. The exhibition will continue till December 31.
Meanwhile, a week-long solo art exhibition of Professor Matlub Ali begins today (Sunday) at the central gallery of Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata.
A total of 60 works of varying sizes using water colour, drawing and oil paintings, will be displayed in the fifth solo show of the artist.
