Paira Sea Port to open very soon: Shahjahan

Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan on Wednesday said activities of Pira Sea Port will start very soon.
He said the government would take all needful efforts to materialize the demand for sea ports in the country by constructing Pira Sea port and revitalize the overall activities of the prime sea port Chittagong as it is the lifeline of the country's economy.
The minister also informed that the government is going ahead with the plan to construct a deep-sea port at Sonadia and plans to construct another sea port at any suitable place.
He said this while inaugurating Customs Auction Shed as the chief guest beside the port stadium in the afternoon.
The minister said present government within its capacity would undertake all efforts to restructure the port aiming to elevating it to the international standard with latest technology and equipment.
Apart from this, Mongla port would be upgraded to facilitate imported vehicle delivery through the port in a bid to lessen the burden on Chittagong port, he said.
