Pak cellular sector contributes Rs 100b to nat

KARACHI, Aug 13 (APP): Chairman PTA, Dr. Muhammad Yaseen has urged upon ICT Providers to ensure best telecommunication services for their customers and enhance their service quality for customer's satisfaction being most important in this era of competition.

Addressing the inaugural session of 8th International Conference on Telecom and IT-ICIT 2008 Asia 2008, Dr. Yaseen said that presently PTA is planning to launch 3G by end of this year and emphasised upon all telecom providers to educate their customers regarding new technologies so that they can understand and utilize new value added services.

Chairman PTA said due to government policies a friendly environment exist for foreign investors in Telecom Sector and that is why other countries are investing in this sector without any fear. This investment make it possible for us to introduce latest technology in our country, he added.

He said PTA's role in this regard is quite clear and due to deregulation policy presently six cellular companies are operating in Pakistan making it possible to provide Telecom facilities on very nominal rates.

Dr. Yaseen said that three years back he gave the vision about Broadband and he is delighted that his dream has since been fulfilled and the number of Broadband customer is increasing day by day.
