Pak commodities' prices witness mixed trend in April

KARACHI, May 2: Prices of commodities witnessed a mixed trend during the month of April in wholesale and retail markets of the city, according to Internet.
Despite mixed price trend in the market, buying powers of general consumers were found to be dwindling.
Wheat prices were found to be on the lower side on account of arrival of large quantity of the commodity in the market during April following registration of bumper crop in all districts of Sindh.
The items, which recorded increase in their average prices during April include some pulses, cooking oil and ghee, white peas, potatoes, basen and tomatoes.
The items that registered decrease in their prices included some pulses, onion, eggs, chicken meat, wheat, black peas, sugar, and some fruits.
The items with no change in their average prices included some pulses, garlic, ginger, milk, tea, some fruits and rice.
Wheat is currently available to millers and chakki owners from official godowns of the provincial government at Rs 2,460 per 100 kg bag as compared to old rates of Rs 2,600 for the same weight.
Prices of ghee and cooking oil were found to be surging owing to an upward trend in the prices of palm oil in the international market.
Chicken meat rates went down despite surge in its demand spurred by the ongoing marriage season. Currently chicken meat is priced at Rs 180 to Rs 190 per kg as compared with previous month's rate of Rs 210 to Rs 220 per kg.
Similarly rates of live chicken bird have also fallen to the level of Rs 110 per kg as against previous month's rate of Rs 125 to Rs 127 per kg.
