Pak GDP grows at 7pc during outgoing fiscal year

ISLAMABAD, June 9 (APP): Pakistan's gross domestic product (GDP) recorded seven per cent growth rate during outgoing fiscal year 2006-07 against the revised estimates of 6.6 per cent in the last financial year.
According to the economic survey for 2006-07 released yesterday, agriculture sector is estimated to depict five per cent growth during this fiscal year as compared to 1.6 per cent growth in this sector during the last FY.
Economic Survey - pre-budget document was released at a press conference jointly addressed by Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance - Dr Salman Shah and Advisor to the Finance Ministry - Dr Ashfaq Hasan Khan here yesterday.
During current financial years, major crops witnessed an impressive growth of 7.6 per cent as against a negative growth of 4.1 per cent last year.
Livestock exhibited signs of moderation from its buoyant growth of 7.5 per cent last year to 4.3 per cent in 2006-07.
Growth of value addition in commodity producing sector (CPS) is estimated to increase by 6.0 per cent in 2006-07 as against 3.4 per cent in 2005-06.
