Pak govt determined to provide essential items at cheaper rates

ISLAMABAD, June 4 (APP): Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz yesterday assured that the government has taken adequate measures to ensure sufficient supply of all essential items at reduced prices to the consumers through Utility Stores and in the open market.
He was talking to customers and newsmen after his surprise visit to the Utility Store here in I-10 Sector, where he went to personally check the supply and prices of the pulses, sugar, ghee, flour and other basic commodities being provided at reduced rates.
The Prime Minister said the concept of Utility Stores, is to provide essential items of daily use to the people at relatively low rates as compared to the open market.
He said the sugar is being provided at Rs. 26 per kg, ghee at Rs. 67 per kg, flour at Rs. 13 per kg and similarly, all other items were being sold at reduced rates at the Utility Stores.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani, Minister of State for Finance Omer Ayub Khan, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Commander Khalil ur Rehman accompanied the Prime Minister during the surprise visit to the Utility Store.
