Pakistan: Bomb blast targets Pakistani army, kills 3
Tuesday, 23 September 2014
A Pakistani police official says a roadside bomb targeting an army vehicle has killed three people in a northwestern city. Kamal Khan says the Tuesday bombing in Peshawar killed two civilians, a paramilitary soldier and wounded 13. The official says it is not yet clear whether it was a suicide blast or a car bombing. No one has claimed responsibility. Suspicion likely is to fall on Pakistani Taliban militants who have been waging a war on state for over a decade, killing tens of thousands in a bid to topple government and install their hard line version of Islam. Pakistani Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid says the bombing seems to be a reaction to the army's offensive against the militants in North Waziristan tribal region, according to AP.
