Pakistan crush Bhutan 7-0, Arif scores hattrick

Riding on an Arif Mehmood hattrick, Pakistan crushed Bhutan by 7-0 goals to taste the first win in the Bangabandhu SAFF Championship in their last group B match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium Tuesday, reports UNB.
With this win, Pakistan secured four points while all-losers Bhutan made an early exit from the tournament without earning a point from three matches.
In the day's match, Arif Mehmood scored a hattrick, Muhammad Essa struck twice, while Reis Ashraf and Shabir Khan netted one goal apiece for Pakistan, who led the first half 5-0.
Essa scored first for Pakistan in the 20th minute (1-0), while Reis Ashraf doubled the margin in the 23rd minute (2-0).
Arif, who notched the second hattrick of the tournament after Sri Lankan striker Kasun Jayasuriya, scored his first and the third goal for the team in the 28th minute (3-0). He widened the margin for Pakistan scoring his second goal and the 4th for his team in the 36th minute (4-0).
Sabbir Khan scored the 5th goal for Pakistan in the 44th minute (5-0) while Essa scored his second and the 6th goal for the team in the 55th minute (6-0).
Arif completed his hattrick scoring his 3rd goal and the 7th for Pakistan in the 70th minute (7-0).
Pakistan clearly dominated the entire match and notched the deserving victory, while Bhutan was totally off-colour.
Pakistan earlier suffered a 0-1 defeat to Sri Lanka in their opening group match and drew goalless with Bangladesh in the second match.
After the match, Pakistan coach George Kottan said his boys played superb football on the day.
He said the win against Bhutan was the crying need for his team to survive in the title race as they did not win their opening match.
Bhutan head coach Koji Gyotoku praised the performance of Pakistan, saying, "they were a much better team than us."
