Pakistan envoy for strong institutional structure

CHITTAGONG, Apr 26: Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan Afzaal Mahmood in a meeting with the directors of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry has suggested institutional patronage to enhance bilateral trade between Pakistan and Bangladesh. He said Pakistan is very much interested to enhance bilateral ties and emphasized on the sea route from Karachi to Chittagong directly. His country is also committed to setting up a visa office in Chittagong to facilitate trade delegations from Bangladesh to different cities of Pakistan, Afzaal said. The Pakistan Assistant High Commissioner along with other officials visited the CCCI on late Monday evening. Senior vice president of the Chamber Mahbubul Alam presided over the meeting while directors including Mazharul Islam Chowdhury, Mahfuzul Hoque Shah, Zahurul Alam, Captain Shafi Chaudhuri, Morshed Arif Chowdhury, former director Iqbal Dada and Habib Mohiuddin, members Ekramul Karim and Amir Ali Fakhri were present. SVP of the CCCI Mr Alam said that trade relation between two countries is yet to grow to its expected level. He suggested "Early Harvest" workshop under free trade economy for expediting the bilateral trade.
