Pakistan swamp Maldives by ten wickets in SA Games T20 Cricket

Pakistan Under21 made an emphatic start in the 11th South Asian Games T20 Cricket when they swamped cricket minnows Maldives by ten wickets in their opening match at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in the city Monday, reports BSS.
Pakistan openers Ali Waqas hammered an unbeaten 43 off 32 balls with five 4s and hoisting one six and skipper Umer Amin slammed 38 off 26 balls with half a dozen boundaries. Pakistan reached the target with 10.2 over remaining.
Earlier Maldivian Captain Ahmed Hassan was lucky to win the toss and elected to bat first and surprisingly keeping their inexperience and standard they collected a reasonable good score of 88 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
Opener Husham Ibrahim hit a courageous 27 off 41 balls which included a huge six at mid-wicket off Junaid Khan. Hassan Ibrahim made an unbeaten 15 after facing just 13 balls studded with two boundaries.
Spinner Kamran Hussain, who was brought in as the fifth bowler finished with excellent figures of three wickets for 25 runs in four overs. Junaid Khan and Ahsan Jamil chipped in with one wicket each.
Pakistan will take on Nepal in their next match at the same stadium today (Wednesday).
"Its good start for our team but our bowlers gave some 10-15 extra runs in a bid to buy wickets," Pakistan coach Azam Khan said after the match. However he said as the opposition was weak its difficult to concentrate.
"We are looking forward to our matches against two strong teams Bangladesh and Sri Lanka , "he commented.
Maldives coach Ahmed Hassan said this was first international match for his team at this level. He expressed his satisfaction over the performance of his boys mostly of them in 17-19 in age group.
"It was great experience to play against team like Pakistan . Our boys learnt a lot during the match," he maintained.
