Palmyra Fruit Festival in Ctg today

CHATTOGRAM: The Asian University for Women (AUW) is organising a festival to showcase South Asian palm fruit at its campus today (Sunday).
The university's Palmyra-Culture Research Group is holding the festival titled 'Palmyra Fruit Festival' with the help of the AUW Chemistry Club, AUW Vegetarian Club, AUW Environmental Sciences Club, and Office of Student Affairs (OSA).
Students and faculties will be able to taste delicious foods made from palmyra fruits at the festival.
Palmyra Palm (Asian Palm) has been part of South Asian culture for a very long time. These plants not only have cultural values but also medicinal, social, and biodiversity significance.
This season is known for palmyra fruits and related sweets (palmyra fruit pitha, palmyra fruit dessert, etc.) in Bangladesh.
This event will take place on the AUW campus today (Sunday) from 3.30 to 6.00 pm with sponsorship of Bangladesh Sugar Crop Research Institute (BSIR) and under the supervision of Professor Mosae Selvamkumar who has been involved in Palmyra-Culture Research Group for self-reliance and sustainable development.
The university wants to make students and teachers aware about palmyra fruit-related foods and palmyra craft works in presence of scientists from BSIR and the port city.
