Panchagarh eyes bumper jute production

PANCHAGARH, May 08 (BSS): Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) of Panchagarh district has targeted a bumper jute production in five upazilas in the district during the current season.
The DAE sources said 10,500 hectares of land have been brought under jute cultivation in the district this year with the production target of 21,850 tonnes. Of the total land, 8,300 hectares of land were brought under Tosha variety and 2,200 hectares of land under local variety of jute.
DAE sources said 3,300 hectares of land were brought under jute cultivation in Sadar upazila, 2800 hectares in Debiganj upazila, 2500 hectares in Boda upazila, 1000 hectares in Atowary and 900 hectares of land in Tentulia upazila.
