Panchagarh, Satkhira road accidents kill five

At least five persons were killed in three separate road accidents in Panchagarh and Satkhira districts on Wednesday, report agencies.
In Panchagarh, three people were killed and another was injured when a tractor crashed on a motorbike on Boda-Debiganj highway at Kalurhat Kathari in Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh district on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Tauhidul Islam, 35, son of Almas Ali, Amin Sheikh, 48, son of Rajab Ali, and Almas Alim 55, son of Mozammel Haque of Boda municipality area.
Quoting witnesses, Jamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Debiganj Police Station, said the accident occurred in the morning when the wood-laden tractor hit the motorbike carrying four people, leaving two motorcyclists dead on the spot and two others injured.
The injured were taken to Debiganj Upazila Health Complex at first and then shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where another victim succumbed to his injuries.
Police could not arrest anyone as the driver of the tractor managed to flee the scene.
In Satkhira, two motorcyclists were killed in two separate road accidents in Kalaroa upazila of the district on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Toaf Karigor, 55, who hailed from Jhowdanga in Sadar upazila, and Mahmud Koli, 45, an inhabitant of Kalatupi village in Kalaroa upazila.
Police said the accident took place when bike rider Toaf Karigor hit a roadside tree at Kazirhat on the Jashore-Satkhira Highway in the morning as he lost control over his bike.
He died on the spot.
