Panel to take no more opinions
Monday, 9 May 2011
A member of the special parliamentary committee on constitution amendment has said no more opinions will be elicited from any quarters on the issue, reports bdnews24.com.
Hasanul Haq Inu's remarks came in sharp contrast to the panel co-chair Suranjit Sengupta who earlier said that opinions of opposition BNP would be taken if they would like to make their points.
Inu spoke to journalists after a meeting of the committee at parliament building Sunday.
Opinions of political parties, chief justices, lawyers, experts, distinguished people and editors taken in a series of recent meetings were discussed at the meeting, said Inu, also president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal.
The committee held a series of meetings on April 24-25, 27 and on May 3-4. However, opposition BNP did not turn up at the meeting while Jama'at-e-Islami was not invited.
